Jann never went anywhere without a sketchbook. Whether a trip to the grocery store or a trip cross country, there would always be at least one sketchbook in her trusty knapsack. On longer journeys she would generally bring multiple, since she liked to use different books for dry vs. wet media. At home, there would be the computer desk sketchbook, the easy chair sketchbook, the nightstand sketchbook, etc. Always having a sketchbook within reach was important. She was full of ideas and inventions, feelings and imagination, visions fantastical and prosaic. A sketchbook, along with a pen or a brush, were how these visions made it into the world. I’m so grateful they did. Here is a very small sample.
